Salem Police Catch Alleged Lottery Ticket Thief

After a month-long-plus investigation and tips from people around the region, the Salem Police Department believes it has the man who was allegedly involved with a lottery ticket theft incident at Klemm’s Mobil on Pleasant Street in Salem.

Andrew Sevigny, 29, of Dracut, MA, was arrested on Feb. 10, 2015, on willful concealment/theft and receiving stolen property warrants.

According to Lt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department, the theft occurred on Jan. 5, when a man walked into the service station and stole an entire rack of lottery tickets.

During the course of the investigation, police learned that a man had “cashed in several tickets at stores throughout the area.” Assisted by media outlets and other police departments, Sevigny reportedly emerged as a suspect. Salem detectives “were also able to retrieve both hats the suspect wore during the theft as well as several unscratched lottery tickets.”

Sevigny was processed yesterday and released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail. He’s due in 10th Circuit District Court in Salem on March 16.
