Spike Strips Stop Elderly Methuen Reckless Driver: NHSP
Troopers arrested Michael Alan tonight after he allegedly drove in excess of 100 mph on I-93 North in New Hampshire.

LITTLETON, NH — A Bay State man is due in court in November after allegedly driving recklessly through the North Country of New Hampshire tonight, according to New Hampshire State Police. Michael Alan, 68, of Methuen, MA, was arrested on Sept. 30, 2016, for reckless driving and disobeying an officer.

At just after 6 p.m., a Grafton County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a Toyota Camry with Massachusetts plates on I-93 North in Thornton, according to a report. The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and continued to drive north. At Franconia Notch, the pursuit was taken over by the Franconia Police Department and troopers from Troop F.

“The vehicle continued northbound at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour,” according to Sgt. Nathan Hamilton of the NHSP. “Officers from Littleton Police Department were able to successfully deploy spike strips in the area of Exit 43, which caused the vehicle to come to a controlled stop.”
Alan was arrested and processed. He was released and is due in court on Nov. 15.

The pursuit involved the following departments: Grafton County Sheriff’s Office, Franconia Police Department, Sugar Hill Police Department, Littleton Police Department, NH State Liquor Enforcement, State Police, Littleton Fire Department, and Calex Ambulance, according to Hamilton.
