• Deep drought fueling White Mountains forest fire that has reached historic scale (newsfromthestates.com) — Shelburne residents seeking answers about the Wild River Fire heard Thursday that no structures were believed threatened, with flames about two miles from the nearest private land. Officials said drought has left the forest unusually flammable and warned that fully extinguishing the blaze would likely require substantial rain or snow.
   

• White Mountain National Forest wildfire now 20% contained (wcax.com) — The Wild River Fire near Shelburne is 20% contained after affecting nearly 1,000 acres of the White Mountain National Forest, officials reported Friday. No homes or structures are threatened, but the affected forest area and several hiking trails remain closed as crews work through steep, rocky terrain with help from helicopters and drones.
