• Lake Sunapee being monitored after two recent hazardous spills (nhpr.org) — Officials are closely monitoring Lake Sunapee after two small hazardous spills Saturday, including fuel from a sunken racing boat near Georges Mills and an unknown sheen in Sunapee Harbor. Both were quickly contained, but residents are urged to report any unusual substances on the water so crews can respond fast and protect lake health. 
• Stargazing sites for the Perseid meteor shower in New Hampshire (newenglandnewspress.com) — If you’re planning to watch the Perseid meteor shower, both Lake Sunapee and Mount Sunapee are highlighted as top dark-sky spots in New Hampshire. The shower peaks the night of August 12 into the morning of August 13, and the article lists several other low–light pollution locations around the state for memorable stargazing.
