• Sullivan County Getting Outside Law Firm for Internal Investigation (indepthnh.org) — Sullivan County taxpayers, including those in Unity, are funding legal costs tied to a snowmobile trail lawsuit between the Claremont Beagle Club and a Unity property owner, even though the county isn’t a party. At the same time, county officials have hired an outside law firm to review more than $250,000 in county money sent to a tourism nonprofit led in part by local officials.

• New Hampshire Democrats, Republicans React To GOP Candidates For Speaker Of The House (patch.com subscription) — Unity residents are part of the Sullivan County district represented by Rep. Steven Smith, one of three Republicans now campaigning to become New Hampshire’s next Speaker of the House. Democrats and Republicans are sharply divided over these candidates, with Democrats criticizing what they call a Free State-driven GOP agenda and Republicans debating which contender should lead their caucus.
