Stay focused during Thanksgiving!

If you have read my last post and my mission, you will understand that it is my goal for the upcoming year to eat healthfully and improve my life and weight control. There is no better holiday to follow this challenge than the Thanksgiving feast! And the great news is, you can eat a lot on Thanksgiving, however, it is important to properly portion your meals and have primilarly half your plate fillled with salad and veggies along with a fourth of protein and a moderate and healthy starch. Carbohydrates are not evil like most believe, however, it is important to really focus on complex carbohydrates because they are filled with fiber and whole grains that burn slowly (unlike simple carboydrates that turn into sugar). I don't like to endorse any diet plans because I feel that it is a lifestyle choice and to do the well balanced approach to eating that best fits you and your lifestyle. Anyone can loose the weight, but there is also the difficult task of keeping it off that most people have trouble with. On the Weight Watchers program, to which I am apart of, you can easily and healthfully loose weight by great nutritional information that each clinic has! The clinic in Salem, NH was filled with a very friendly staff that helped me get started and taught me the basics of the plan and why it is so important to not think of this as a diet and restrict myself from the things I love, but to think of it as a new lifestyle. And the best part is, you can eat at a restaurant and still follow the plan! They also allow meetings for members and in those meetings they track progress and discuss all of the diffcult tempatations that occur within our lives. This goes to show that anyone ages 18+ can join and believe in the program because it truely works!
