Windham High School Archery Team Update

The Windham High School Archery Team is off to a fantastic start for a year, starting the season with a strong showing at the first tournament!

The Windham High School archery team is shooting towards victory. The team is off to an amazing start for this season and everyone who participated in the first tournament of the year placed in his or her respective division.

The tournament was at Ace Archers in Foxboro, Massachusetts on Saturday, September 22, 2012. The competitors were Captain Marissa Yost, Josh Allen, and coaches Guy Gerig and Sonia Wong. Marissa placed 3rd, Josh and Mr. Gerig placed 1st, and Ms. Wong placed 2nd  in their respective divisions. “It was a great first tournament. A lot of practice was put into preparing for it and it really showed!” said Josh Allen.

The team is still fairly new; last year was its first year and it has been growing since. More students have joined and even more team members are planning on competing this year.  As Marissa Yost put it, “Competing can be stressful at first, but when you get used to it you have a lot of fun and meet a lot of new people that really know what they’re doing.” The next tournament is coming up in November. The team hopes to do even better in competitions to come and make it to Indoor Nationals.
