Windham High School Drama Club Presents Songs for a New World
The students at Windham High School will show their talent in one last theatrical production of the year, Songs for a New World.

Windham High School presents Songs for a New World, a modern, student-run musical. Songs for a New World is a unique type of musical; it is considered to be a “song cycle.” Each song tells the story of a new character trying to find his or her way to the “new world.” Though the show does not follow a plot line, the songs are connected by theme. Jake Simard (senior) and Kara Yennaco (junior) are the two talented, dedicated directors of the production.
Both Kara and Jake are incredibly experienced in theater. Kara has been involved in dance for fourteen years, and she choreographed the dance numbers in the show. Her dance skills as well as those of the cast will be displayed in the upbeat, inspiring song “Steam Train.” Jake has been a part of plays and musicals for the past nine years, recalling that this will be his twentieth show. Audiences fondly remember him for his outstanding performance as the lead in the High School’s Winter Musical The Phantom of the Opera.
The cast consists of devoted and artistic students ranging from freshmen to seniors. “The cast is small enough that it has allowed us to bond in a unique way,” said Kara. The show itself is challenging from musical and emotional standpoints, as it deals with difficult topics and complicated characters. The cast has risen up to the challenge, raising their voices in perfect harmony and performing dynamic group numbers and solos alike. The show is truly one not to be missed.
