The Times reported that there were reportedly a number of issues in the campaign related to Lewandowski's relationships with other staffers as the campaign moved into a general election, including issues with staffers that were hired by Paul Manafort, a strategist with the campaign.

Lewandowski, a former state trooper and long-time political operative in the state, was arrested in March for reportedly grabbing a reporter while attempting to move through a crowd after a press conference. The battery charge was later dropped.
