WINDHAM, NH - A multi-vehicle accident brought traffic to a standstill on I-93 south on March 4, 2016, due to a shifting storm that quickly turned snow to ice along the Interstate.
Accidents were reported in Derry, Londonderry, Salem, and Windham, including the multi-vehicle stretch of crashes near Mile Market 9 on the southbound side of the highway. Between 40 and 45 vehicles were reportedly involved in the accidents, according to alerts online.
More than 10 teams of fire and rescue workers from between Manchester and Hudson, as well as surrounding communities, arrived to assist New Hampshire State Police with the cleanup. The highway was closed for about three hours. The road was re-opened fully to traffic at around 2 p.m.
