6 NJ Cities Among The Richest, Safest To Live: Ranking

The finance website GOBankingRates set out to find which cities are safe and hold the greatest amount of wealth among residents.

NEW JERSEY — Six New Jersey cities are among the richest and safest places to live in 2024, according to a new ranking.

To determine which cities not only rank high in safety but also hold a tremendous amount of wealth among their residents, finance website GOBankingRates analyzed factors in several communities including average household income, population, cost of living, crime rates and more.

Of the 30 cities that ranked highest on the list, six were in New Jersey, according to analysts.

At No. 7, Ridgewood in Bergen County ranked the highest of all Garden State cities. With just over 26,000 people, the average household median income in Ridgewood was $277,428. The average home value was $1,095,623 and the violent crime rate was 0.3 out of 1,000.

  • Westfield (No. 9)
  • Glen Ridge (No. 11)
  • Haddonfield (No. 12)
  • Summit (No. 13)
  • Chatham (No. 14)

California and Massachusetts each had seven cities included in the ranking, according to the ranking. Also, none of the cities on the list had a median household income under $251,210, researchers said.
