Major NJ ANCHOR Tax Rebate Deadline Arrives

Tuesday is the final day for some residents to make sure they get their slice of the property tax rebate.

| Updated

Tuesday marks a major deadline for New Jerseyans looking to get their ANCHOR payment this year.

The New Jersey Division of Taxation marked Tuesday, Sept. 15, as the final day for ANCHOR applicants to change their banking information or decide whether they prefer to receive a paper check.

If your banking information needs updating, or if you prefer a paper check, you must file your own application by the end of the day Tuesday.

Those who do not need to make changes but have yet to apply for ANCHOR have until Nov. 2 to do so.

Most eligible residents had their ANCHOR application refiled automatically for them. Those new to the program and people 65+ years old who collect Social Security disability benefits need to file an ANCHOR application on their own.

Those who have had their ANCHOR application refiled automatically by the state should have already received their ANCHOR confirmation letter in the mail.

Can I Still Apply?

In addition to applications solely for ANCHOR, the PAS-1 combined application has been available to fill out for eligible people 65 years and older. The application allows people to claim benefits from ANCHOR, Senior Freeze, and the Stay NJ Program, all at once, even if they aren't eligible for all of the programs.

Applicants should prepare their 2025 property tax details, including their County/Municipality Code, Block/Lot/Qualifier, and tax amounts, as well as the gross income reported on their 2024 NJ-1040 when applying.
