NJ Transit Delays, GSP Roadwork In NJ: Patch AM Traffic Digest

Good morning, New Jersey Patch readers! Here are the latest traffic updates that will impact your travel on Monday, May 16, 2022.

Traffic Updates

North Jersey

As of 8:15 a.m., there's a crash on US 22 eastbound west of Bloy Street in Hillside. 1 right lane closed.

As of 8:01 a.m., there's a disabled tractor trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike/I-95 local lanes northbound south of Exit 72 - US 9W/US 1&9/US 46 in Englewood. 1 center lane blocked.

As of 7:51 a.m., there's a disabled vehicle on I-280 westbound west of Exit 9 - Pleasant Avenue/CE 660 in West Orange. 1 center lane closed.

As of 7:04 a.m., there are delays on US 1 & 9 northbound between Wilson Avenue and New Jersey Turnpike.

As of 6:18 a.m., there's a vehicle fire on the Garden State Parkway northbound Exit 149 - CR 506 in Bloomfield. Right shoulder blocked.

As of 6:01 a.m., there are delays at the Holland Tunnel south tunnel eastbound New Jersey side - Toll Plaza in Jersey City. The travel time to the New York side is 20 minutes from New Jersey Turnpike Exit 14C and 20 minutes from New Jersey 139 at Tonnelle Circle.

Central Jersey

As of 7:21 a.m., there are delays and an earlier incident on I-78 eastbound from east of Exit 36 - CR 651 to west of Exit 40 - CR 531 in Warren. All lanes open.

As of 7 a.m., there's construction on NJ 27 in both directions from CR 605/River Road in Princeton to North of CR 522/Promeade Boulevard in South Brunswick. Right shoulder closed until 3:30 p.m.

As of 5:56 a.m., there's roadwork on the Garden State Parkway outer roadway southbound in the vicinity of Exit 109 - CR 520 in Middletown 1 right lane closed.

As of 4:06 a.m., there's construction on NJ 175 northbound from West Upper Ferry Road to NJ 29 in Ewing. All lanes closed and detoured until further notice.

South Jersey

As of 6:50 a.m., there are delays on NJ 55 northbound south of NJ 42 in Deptford.

As of 4:41 a.m., there's long term road construction on NJ 70 in both directions between CR 644/Grove Street/Haddonfield Road and NJ 41/CR 6154 in Cherry Hill. All lanes shift until 11:59 a.m. on May 29.

Transit Updates

North Jersey Coast Line and Northeast Corridor NJ Transit lines are under temporary schedule adjustments are in effect for the next six to eight weeks to accommodate major repair work to the Laurel Avenue Bridge in Holmdel. See here for updated timetables.

Montclair-Boonton train #6202, the 6:04 a.m. Penn Station (NY) arrival is up to 15 min. late due to fire department activity near station.

North Jersey Coast Line train #3204, the 5:58 a.m. Penn Station (NY) arrival is up to 20 min. late due to fire department activity near the station.

All other NJ Transit train lines are running on or close to schedule.

NJ Weather

Expect patchy fog and a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be severe, per the National Weather Service. Wind gusts as high as 20 mph are also possible, with new rainfall amounts likely between a quarter and half of an inch.
