Chris Christie To Announce 2024 Presidential Run
New Jersey's former governor will throw his hat into the ring for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, reports say.

NEW JERSEY — Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie plans to announce his candidacy for president in 2024 next week, stepping onto a Republican starting line also toed by former president Donald J. Trump and Florida governor Ron DeSantis.
Christie plans to make the announcement on Tuesday, June 6 during a town hall meeting at Saint Anselm College's New Hampshire Institute of Politics, according to multiple reports.
The 60-year-old served as governor of the Garden State from 2010-2018 after serving as U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey for six years. Christie was a longtime friend and adviser to Trump, but has since emerged as a vocal critic of the 45th commander-in-chief.

Trump himself held a CNN town hall at Saint Anselm on May 10, and was typically combative against host Kaitlan Collins in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Axios was first to report Christie's reported plans, and sources have confirmed it to the Associated Press and others.

Several longtime Christie advisers have started a super political action committee to support his expected candidacy, as the Associated Press reported. The Super PAC, called "Tell It Like It Is," will be led by longtime advisers: GOP operative Brian Jones, Republican National Committee member Bill Palatucci, and Russ Schriefer, per the AP.
Christie, who is currently polling at the bottom of the pack, also sought the GOP nomination in 2016. He dropped out of that race a day after finishing sixth in New Hampshire’s primary.
Trump is the first-choice nominee for more than 50 percent of Republican and Republican-leaning voters, polls show. He is still under investigation by the FBI for possibly colluding with Russia to interfere in the 2016 election, and his criminal trial in Manhattan for his alleged hush-money coverups is tentatively scheduled for March 2024 — right in the middle of the presidential primary season.
