Groom Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Ex-NJ Woman In Wedding Night Crash
Aric Hutchinson, who lost his new wife in a drunken driving accident, has filed a lawsuit against the driver, several bars and her employer.
SOUTH CAROLINA — The husband of a bride killed in a golf cart crash on their wedding night has filed a wrongful death lawsuit Wednesday against the accused drunken driver and several local bars and restaurants, according to a Good Morning America report.
Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, grew up in New Jersey and currently lives in Charleston. In the crash, bride Samantha Miller, 34, from Charlotte, North Carolina, was killed when Komoroski briefly hit the breaks on her rental car, which was going more than double the speed limit before it hit the golf cart in which the newlyweds were riding, officials said. Three others in the golf cart, including the groom Aric Hutchinson, were also injured, according to officials.
The lawsuit states that on the night of the crash, "Despite being noticeably and visibly intoxicated at each of these establishments, Jaime Komoroski continued to be served, provided, and/or allowed to consume additional alcohol" at multiple bars and restaurants, ABC News reported.

Komoroski's employer and supervisor were also named in the lawsuit, according to ABC News, where they are accused of "pressuring" her to attend a function "excessive amounts of alcoholic beverages" on the night of the accident.
Her employer told ABC News in a statement that there was no "officially organized employee function around drinking" and that Komoroski had just started training for the job.

She was driving 65 mph in a 25 mph zone when the crash happened, according to a police report released by the Folly Beach Department of Public Safety and reported by ABC News. And according to the toxicology report, ABC News said, Komoroski's blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.
She was charged with one count of reckless homicide and three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm, online court records show.
Komoroski has retained a New Jersey lawyer as she sits in Charleston County Jail - former Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni, along with former federal prosecutor Nathan S. Williams, according to New Jersey 101.5. Williams is best known for the trial of Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof, where he convinced the jury to give Roof the death penalty.
"We cannot fathom what the families are going through and offer our deepest sympathies," the attorneys said in a statement. "We simply ask that there not be a rush to judgment. Our court system is founded upon principles of justice and mercy and that is where all facts will come to light.
Hutchinson spoke for the first time publicly to Good Morning America Friday about the crash that took the life of his new bride.
"I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. That night, going from an all-time high to an all-time low, it's pretty rough to try to comprehend," Hutchinson told Good Morning America.
He said he is not ready to address Komoroski just yet.
"I can't right now," Hutchinson told Good Morning America. "I'd like to. I mean, she stole an amazing human being that should not have been taken."
