Heat Wave Breaks In NJ, But It Won't Last: Latest Forecast
Monday will see a reprieve from the oppressive heat - but expect temperatures to hike back up Tuesday and Wednesday, forecasters say.
NEW JERSEY — After a hot and muggy weekend, Monday brings some relief to New Jerseyans struggling with the recent oppressive heat. But don't get too comfortable, forecasters say: it won't last long.
The cold front that brought thunderstorms and strong winds Sunday night lingers, bringing with it temporarily lower temperatures. Much of NJ will be in the low/mid-80s Monday, the National Weather Service said.
Winds will blow 10 to 15 mph, occasionally with gusts to 25 mph, forecasters say.

Temperatures will start to climb back up Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, but low dew points mean that the upper 80s/low 90s temps won't feel as bad as it did last week.
Wednesday will get "warm and muggy," the National Weather Service said. Another cold front will likely usher in more showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, not unlike those NJ got Sunday. But these could be a touch more severe, forecasters say, with the main threat being strong, damaging wind gusts.

It'll feel like near 100 degrees that day, and the National Weather Service said a heat advisory may be needed, especially for the urban corridor.
The rest of the week, however? "Relatively quiet in the long term with seasonable temperatures overall," the National Weather Service said, with a nice weekend in store before more storms may hit Saturday into Sunday. But forecasters say it's still too early to know the details on that.
