Humid, Stormy Weekend In Store For NJ

NEW JERSEY — New Jersey is in for a "disgustingly warm and humid" weekend, according to National Weather Service forecasters, with the chance of thunderstorms throughout the state as well.

It'll feel close to 100 degrees in parts of New Jersey on Friday, forecasters say, and most of the state is still under a heat advisory through Friday.

Some scattered showers and thunderstorms may develop in North Jersey between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.

"The threat will not be widespread but a few storms could produce damaging wind gusts this afternoon and evening," the National Weather Service said. Everywhere else will still be dry and hot.

Heat and humidity will continue to climb Saturday, with the interior parts of the state feeling temperatures close to 105 degrees, forecasters say. An excessive heat watch is in effect Saturday and Sunday, but could change to a heat advisory.

Sunday looks to be the hottest and most humid day so far, the National Weather Service said. Showers and thunderstorms could fire off during the afternoon and evening of both Saturday and Sunday.

While Sunday's forecast has it feeling between 100 and 110 degrees all over, forecasters say a number of factors mean that it may not actually get that hot. Cloud cover and storms could keep temperatures down, but only slightly - the National Weather Service still forecasts highs in the upper 90s.
