Meet The GOP Candidates Looking To Unseat Senator Cory Booker

Four candidates are seeking the Republican nomination to go head-to-head against Senator Booker this November.

Another Primary Election is underway in New Jersey, and several Republican candidates are seeking the nomination to go head-to-head against Democratic Senator Corey Booker come November.

Booker, who has been a Senator in New Jersey for more than 12 years, is once again up for reelection this year, and four Republicans are seeking the chance to challenge him in the General Election. As of now, Booker has no primary opponent, meaning he’s likely guaranteed the Democratic nomination this Primary Election.

Here are the four Republican candidates looking for a shot to unseat the former Mayor of Newark:

His campaign focuses on reducing the federal deficit and, therefore, reducing the cost of living for New Jerseyans. Specifically, as a veteran in medicine, the Bronx-native seeks to reduce health care costs while “expanding choice, increasing transparency, and promoting practical reforms that lower costs while improving the quality of care,” his campaign website reads.

The self-proclaimed “political outsider” also hopes to tackle education equality and social security solvency, while also preparing for the future of artificial intelligence, according to his campaign.

“We need a culture of living with our means, and it has to happen slowly. We do it too fast, I get it, it’ll kill the economy,” Lebovics said in a promotional video. “My generation, they were the ones who got us into this mess. I’m counting on the Gen Zs, and the Generation Ys, and the new people, to help me bring some fiscal sanity and financial stability back to our national finances.”

Justin Murphy

Murphy is a self-employed veteran of the Navy who previously served as the Deputy Mayor of Tabernacle in Burlington County.

His platform highlights parental rights, “medical freedom,” conservative cultural issues, protecting the Pinelands and Jersey Shore, and improving Medicare for seniors.

Specifically, some of Murphy’s ambitions, if elected, include abolishing the Internal Revenue Code and enacting a Flat-Tax rate of 10% – 12%, abolishing the Federal Department of Education, and supporting the expansion of nuclear power in the U.S.

Murphy has also expressed opposition to tax dollars funding abortion, the establishment of sanctuary cities, and the repression of Second Amendment Rights.

Richard Tabor

Tabor served in the Army before spending ten years with the National Guard, with whom he deployed in Iraq. Following his military career, Tabor was a New Jersey State Trooper for several years before retiring.

The law enforcement veteran’s platform strongly focuses on supporting police and working to stop and prevent crime. His campaign promises to support law enforcement, protect children and schools, hold criminals accountable, and fight the fentanyl epidemic. If elected, he says he will support policies that “protect law-abiding residents, support victims, and ensure that New Jersey remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.”

The Elizabeth-native campaign also focuses on lowering costs, creating jobs, and holding career politicians and bureaucrats accountable.

“This isn’t just about politics. This is my life. I wore the uniform, I walked the streets with the people, I served the people,” he said in a promotional video. “So guess what? Cory Booker, I’m coming.”

One specific issue Zdan intends to focus on is improving food quality across the country, including in the Garden State. His campaign says military members, school children, and people on government assistance deserve access to high-quality food. If elected, Zdan “will continue the progress made in strengthening nutritional standards, supporting small farmers and granting greater access to nutritious food for those on SNAP benefits,” his campaign site reads.

He also seeks to end pollution-related chronic illnesses, strengthen border control, support the Second Amendment, and ensure safe and free elections, among other campaign promises.
