Thunderstorms To Dampen Spring Break Plans In NJ

While many New Jerseyans will experience temperatures in the mid-70s to low-80s on Tuesday, there’s still rain and potential thunderstorms ahead for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

In the weather service’s Tuesday forecast, forecasters said to expect spotty to isolated showers into Tuesday night, mainly northwest of I-95.

Areas near and northwest of I-78 also have the potential to see a strong to severe storm, officials said.

“Isolated thunderstorms are possible with the potential for a strong to severe storm for locations near and NW of I-78,” the NWS said. “The primary threat would be damaging winds.”

In addition to potential thunderstorms, forecasters said record warmth is also possible on Tuesday and Wednesday throughout NJ and PA.

While the first half of the week will feature a significant warm-up, a southerly wind off the ocean is expected to keep coastal areas much cooler.
