NJ Train Line Suspended, Fire On Interstate: Patch AM Traffic Digest

Good morning, New Jersey Patch readers! Here are the latest traffic updates that will impact your travel on Monday, May 2, 2022.

Traffic Updates

North Jersey

As of 6:55 a.m., there's a disabled tractor trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike outer roadway northbound north of Interchange 12 - Carteret-Rahway in Linden. 1 center lane blocked.

As of 6:46 a.m., there are delays at the Holland Tunnel south tunnel eastbound from the NJ side in Jersey City to the NY side in Manhattan. Travel time to the NY side is 20 minutes from NJ Turnpike Exit 14C and 25 minutes from New Jersey 139 at Tonnelle Circle.

As of 6:34 a.m., there's a crash on I-287 southbound north of Exit 41 - I-80 in Parsippany - Troy Hills. 2 left lanes closed; 5-10 minute delay.

As of 6:22 a.m., there are delays on the Garden State Parkway northbound from south of Exit 135 - Central Avenue in Clark to north of Exit 136 - Stiles Street in Cranford. 2-mile delay due to volume.

As of 6:17 a.m., there's a crash on the NJ Turnpike - Eastern Spur southbound interchange 15E - US 1 & 9 in Newark. Right shoulder closed.

As of 6:14 a.m., there's a crash on the Garden State Parkway northbound south of Exit 137 - NJ 28 in Cranford. Right shoulder blocked.

As of 5:58 a.m., there's a crash on the Garden State Parkway northbound south of Exit 137 - NJ 28 in Cranford. 1 left lane blocked.

As of 5:41 a.m., there's a truck fire on I-80 westbound west of Exit 42 - US 202/Littleton Road in Parsippany-Troy Hills. 1 right lane closed.

Central Jersey

As of 7:50 a.m., there's a crash on US 1 northbound ramp to northbound I-295 in Lawrence Township. All lanes open, partial ramp closure due to guide rail sticking out in roadway.

As of 7:41 a.m., there's an overturned truck on NJ 440 northbound south of US 9/Garden State Parkway in Woodbridge. 1 right lane closed.

As of 7:39 a.m., there's a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike inner roadway northbound south of interchange 12 - Carteret-Rahway in Carteret. 1 center lane blocked.

As of 7:30 a.m., there's a crash on the Garden State Parkway northbound north of Exit 90 - CR 549/Chambers Bridge Road in Brick. 1 left lane blocked.

As of 7:25 a.m., there's a crash on the NJ Turnpike inner roadway northbound south of interchange 8-NJ 33 in East Windsor. Right shoulder closed.

As of 6:28 a.m., there's construction on I-295 in both directions from Exit 73 - Scotch Road in Hopewell to Delaware River/Scudder Falls Bridge in Ewing. Right shoulder closed until 4 p.m.

As of 6:23 a.m., there's a downed pole and transformer fire on US 206 northbound between north of CR 533-Quaker Road and NJ 27/Monument Drive/Nassau Street in Princeton. All lanes closed.

As of 4:07 a.m., there's construction on NJ 175 northbound from West Upper Ferry Road to NJ 29 in Ewing. All lanes closed and detoured until further notice.

South Jersey

As of 7 a.m., there's construction on NJ 45 northbound US 322/Mullica Hill Road in Harrison. All lanes closed and detoured until 3:30 p.m.

As of 6:36 a.m., there's heavy traffic on I-295 northbound from south of Exit 32 - CR 561/Haddonfield Berlin Road in Cherry Hill to north of Exit 36-NJ 73 in Mount Laurel. 2 right lanes closed; 25-30 minute delay.

As of 6:22 a.m., there's a crash on I-295 northbound at Exit 27 - I-76 to I-676 in Bellmawr. Left shoulder closed.

As of 5:37 a.m., there's a crash investigation on I-295 northbound north of Exit 36 - NJ 73 in Mount Laurel. 2 right lanes and shoulder closed; 10 - 15 minute delay.

Transit Updates

MBPJ train #1202, the 6:20 a.m. from Waldwick, was cancelled due to mechanical issues. Take train #1204, the 6:47 a.m. from Waldwick.

NJCL train #3505, the 7:35 a.m. South Amboy arrival has been cancelled due to equipment availability. Take train 3221, the 8:53 a.m. Long Branch arrival.

Northeast Corridor Line rail service is suspended in both directions between Rahway and Trenton due to Amtrak overhead wire issues near Edison. NJ TRANSIT rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored by NJ TRANSIT bus, private carriers and PATH at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken and 33rd St-NY.

North Jersey Coast Line and Northeast Corridor NJ Transit lines are under temporary schedule adjustments are in effect for the next six to eight weeks to accommodate major repair work to the Laurel Avenue Bridge in Holmdel. See here for updated timetables.

All other NJ Transit train lines are running on or close to schedule.

NJ Weather

Expect showers and a possible thunderstorm this morning, with gradual clearing through the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures should hover around the low - to mid-70s.
