PATCH POLL: Will You Still Wear A Mask On Public Transit, Airplanes?

We're surveying readers after a judge struck down the federal travel mask mandate. Gov. Murphy announced a lift on some NJ transit mandates.

NEW JERSEY — Wearing a face mask is now optional on some public transit, in most airports and on most commercial flights.

A federal judge struck down the federal travel mask mandate Monday. Soon after, Governor Phil Murphy announced a face mask mandate lift on NJ Transit and South Jersey Transportation Authority, effective immediately.

Patch wants to know if you will wear a mask on transit despite the end of mandates.

Effective Tuesday, the Transportation Security Administration was no longer requiring masks on planes or in the nation's airports. One by one, most of the nation's major airlines dropped mask requirements, making the face coverings optional for employees and passengers.

Face coverings are optional at Newark Liberty International and Teterboro airports. However, per New York guidance, face masks are still required at New York airports and trains, including the interstate PATH trains. Commuters into New York City will also have to mask up on MTA subways and buses.
