'Widespread Wind Damage,' But No Tornado Monday In North Jersey Town: NWS
High winds caused "significant tree damage" along a path 200 yards wide, according to the National Weather Service.
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ — A storm with winds between 85 and 95 miles per hour caused "widespread wind damage" in a Hunterdon County community on Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS sent storm assessment teams to the county on Tuesday, to determine if a tornado touched down during strong storms on Monday evening.
A preliminary report said there was not a tornado/ The peak damage was in Bethlehem Township, where the winds caused "significant tree damage" in a path about a half-mile long and 200 yards wide, according to the NWS.

"Significant tree damage was observed along Creveling Road and Johnston Drive," surveyors reported. "In addition to several large limbs being blown down, there were several trees uprooted and at least two softwood trees were snapped at the trunk. Damage was unidirectional with tree debris laying to the north. This area was located within a broader area of more sporadic tree damage."
The NWS also said that one tornado was confirmed in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Storm surveyors said that a tornado caused "extensive damage" in the Midway Manor section of Allentown, about 23 miles from Milford.

The NWS will release more information as the storm surveys continue.
Sixteen New Jersey counties were under a tornado watch until Monday night, including Hunterdon County. The NWS did not send out a tornado warning in the county Monday, records show.
