Sewer Collapse, GSP Crash: Patch AM Traffic Digest

Good morning, New Jersey Patch readers! Here are the latest traffic updates that will impact your travel on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Traffic Updates

North Jersey

As of 8:15 a.m., there's an overturned vehicle on NJ 17 northbound north of Allendale Avenue in Allendale. All lanes closed and detoured.

As of 7:34 a.m., there are delays on I-287 southbound from north of Exit 47 - US 202 in Montville to south of Exit 44 - US 202 in Boonton.

As of 7:28 a.m., there's a crash on NJ 3 eastbound Passaic Avenue in Clifton. 1 left lane closed, 5-10 minute delay.

As of 7:20 a.m., there's a crash on the Garden State Parkway northbound south of Exit 138 - CR 509 in Kenilworth. 1 center lane blocked.

As of 6:59 a.m., there's a crash on the George Washington Bridge lower level eastbound New Jersey Side in Fort Lee. 1 left lane blocked.

As of 6:43 a.m., there's a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike - Eastern Spur northbound north of Interchange 15E - US 1 and 9 in Newark. 1 left lane blocked.

As of 6:17 a.m., there's a crash on I-280 eastbound east of Exit 11 - Freeway Drive East/West in East Orange. 1 left lane closed.

As of 8:38 p.m. yesterday, there's a sewer collapse on Sip Avenue in both directions between US 1 and West Side Avenue in Jersey City. All lanes closed.

Central Jersey

As of 8:15 a.m., there's a crash on the Garden State Parkway local lanes southbound south of Exit 114 - Red Hill Road in Middletown. 2 right lanes blocked.

As of 7:33 a.m., there's a crash on the Garden State Parkway northbound south of Exit 127 - US 9/I-287/NJ 440 in Woodbridge. 1 center lane closed.

As of 7:26 a.m., there's a crash on I-195 westbound Exit 3 - Hamilton Square - Yardville Road in Hamilton. Right shoulder closed, 5-10 minute delay.

As of 4:35 a.m., there's construction on NJ 72 in both directions between Shore Avenue and CR 607/Long Beach Boulevard in Ship Bottom. All lanes shift until May 20.

South Jersey

As of 7:06 a.m., there's a disabled tractor trailer on I-295 southbound south of Exit 26S - NJ 42/I-76/I-676 in Bellmawr. 1 right lane closed, 15-20 minute delay.

As of 5:18 a.m., there's a crash on the Garden State Parkway southbound north of Frank Sinatra Service Area in Galloway. Left lane blocked.

As of 12:18 a.m., there's police department activity and roadwork as well as stop-and-go traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike southbound from south of Interchange 5-CR 541 to Westhampton Township to south of Interchange 4 - NJ 73 in Cherry Hill.

Transit Updates

North Jersey Coast Line and Northeast Corridor NJ Transit lines are under temporary schedule adjustments are in effect for the next six to eight weeks to accommodate major repair work to the Laurel Avenue Bridge in Holmdel. See here for updated timetables.

North Jersey Coast Line train #3320, the 5:58 a.m. Bay Head departure, is cancelled due to mechanical issues. Please take train #4324, the 6:27 a.m. Bay Head departure, and train #3224, the 7:10 a.m. Long Branch departure.

All other NJ Transit train lines are running on or close to schedule.

JSQ-33, HOB-33 PATH trains are delayed. A signal system problem is being investigated at 33rd Street.

NJ Weather

Expect temperatures in the low 70s in most areas with increasing cloud cover in the afternoon, per the National Weather Service.
