Thousands Powerless After Storm Batters NJ
Strong winds brought down trees and wires but many of the outages have been quickly resolved.
Thousands of residents remained without power across New Jersey on Thursday morning after severe thunderstorms that brought downpours, hail and strong winds and took down wires and trees.
About 4,000 homes and businesses were awaiting restoration of service according to Jersey Central Power & Light, PSE&G and Atlantic City Electric, with the outages scattered across towns and counties.
Monmouth County had more than 1,000 homes still waiting, with 134 in Holmdel and 132 in Marlboro, according to JCP&L.

In Edison, the storm brought down wires across Route 1, closing the road in both directions. There were 120 customers still without power in that town, according to PSE&G.
Bordentown in Burlington County had 112 customers still out and Bound Brook (104) and North Plainfield (95) were the largest remaining outages in Somerset County, the company said.

Atlantic City Electric's outages were all scattered and limited to a handful of customers in the various towns.
All three companies were anticipating electric service being restored by noon.
