Construction, Commuting Delays In NJ: Patch AM Traffic Digest

Good morning, New Jersey Patch readers! Here are the latest traffic updates that will impact your travel on Tuesday, May 31, 2022:

Traffic Updates

North Jersey

As of 8:27 a.m., there's a disabled truck on the New Jersey Turnpike/I-95 express lanes northbound north of Exit 69 - I-80 in Teaneck. 1 right lane blocked.

As of 8:16 a.m., there's a fuel spill and jackknifed tractor trailer on NJ 17 southbound south of Lake Street in Upper Saddle River. All lanes closed and detoured.

As of 7:15 a.m., there are downed wires on US 206 northbound south of CR 517 in Andover. All lanes closed.

As of 7:06 a.m., there's a vehicle fire on I-80 westbound east of Exit 27 - NJ 183/US 206 in Roxbury. 1 right lane closed.

As of 7:04 a.m., there are delays and an earlier incident on NJ 15 southbound from south of CR 623/Lafayette Franklin Road in Lafayette Township to CR 609/Houses Corner Road in Sparta. All lanes open.

As of 6:26 a.m., there's an overturned tractor trailer on US 1&9 northbound north of Stiles Street in Linden. 2 right lanes closed.

As of 6 a.m., there are delays on the George Washington Bridge lower-level eastbound New Jersey side in Fort Lee. All lanes open. The travel time is 20 minutes on I-95 from I-80 to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge.

As of 5:53 a.m., there are delays at the Holland Tunnel south tunnel eastbound New Jersey side - Toll Plaza in Jersey City. All lanes open. The travel time to the New York side is 20 minutes from New Jersey Turnpike Exit 14C and 20 minutes from New Jersey 139 at Tonnelle Circle.

Central Jersey

As of 7:28 a.m., there's a crash on US 9 northbound NJ 440 in Woodbridge. 1 left lane closed.

As of 7:16 a.m., there's a crash on the Garden State Parkway northbound exiting at Exit 127 - US 9/I-287/NJ 440 in Woodbridge. 2 left lanes blocked.

As of 7:21 a.m., there's traffic congestion on US 9 northbound between CR 673/Ernston Road in Sayreville and NJ 440 in Woodbridge. Current travel time is 15-20 minutes.

As of 12:06 p.m., there's construction and long-term road construction on NJ 72 in both directions between Shore Avenue and CR 607/Long Beach Boulevard in Ship Bottom. All lanes shift until 11:59 p.m. on May 20.

South Jersey

As of 7:09 a.m., there's an overturned vehicle on the New Jersey Turnpike outer roadway northbound north of Interchange 7 - US 206 in Chesterfield Township. 2 left lanes blocked.

As of 6:22 a.m., there are delays on NJ 55 northbound from Exit 58 - Deptford Center Road to south of NJ 42 in Deptford Township.

As of 6:16 a.m., there's construction on I-76 eastbound from east of Exit 2 - I-676 to west of Exit 1D - US 130 in Gloucester City. All lanes shift until Sept. 2.

Transit Updates

Laurel Avenue bridge repairs on the North Jersey Coast Line have been completed. Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line weekend schedule are revised effective May 28 and weekday schedules resume beginning May 31.

Montclair-Boonton train #6204, the 6:46 a.m. arrival into Penn Station - New York, is up to 15 minutes late due to earlier crew availability.

Pascack Valley train #1602, the 5:10 a.m. departure from Spring Valley, was cancelled due to mechanical issues.

Hudson-Bergen Light Rail: the 5:25 a.m. departure from 8th St is cancelled at Jersey Avenue due to a mechanical issue.

All other NJ Transit train lines are running on or close to schedule.

NJ Weather

Expect sunny skies with a high near 95.
