Year's 1st Heat Wave, Storms In NJ's Forecast
NJ's recent comfortable weather is coming to an end soon, as temperatures reach the 90s and thunderstorms are possible.
NEW JERSEY — Summer is about to finally kick in for New Jersey as the first heatwave of the year is in the forecast.
Temperatures are going to reach the upper 80s through Friday, with a chance of thunderstorms Friday too, according to forecasters from the National Weather Service.
Next week is when things will really heat up. The National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center says there's a 70 to 80 percent chance of hotter than average temperatures starting Sunday through June 20.

"From Monday through much of next week, home-grown high pressure will build over the region while the jet stream bulges northward," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham. "This one-two combination will set the stage for building heat and an uptick in humidity levels. For many, this will be the first heat wave of the year."
Temperatures will reach the 90s next week, forecasters say. The region's last heat wave was early September last year.
