Asbury Park Man Indicted For Attempted Murder For September Shooting
The shooting occurred Sept. 11, 2025 on the 100 block of Monmouth Avenue.
ASBURY PARK, NJ — An Asbury Park man was indicted this week for attempted murder for a shooting in that city in September.
Calvin Joseph, 18, was charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder and two illegal weapons offenses.
The shooting occurred Sept. 11, 2025 on the 100 block of Monmouth Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

The first victim, identified as Tyshan Small, 37, was rushed to a local hospital where he would later be pronounced deceased. The second victim was also taken to a hospital and survived.
Police say Jerod Jones, 32, of Neptune City, is responsible for the murder of Small and the shooting of the other man. Jones remains a fugitive at this time.

Moments after the initial shooting by Jones, more shots were fired in that same location and Joseph is responsible for the second shooting, said the prosecutor. There were no injuries as a result of the second shooting.
Joseph was located and apprehended by members of the Asbury Park Police the next day, Sept. 12, and when he was arrested he was found to be in possession of a firearm.
