Dr. Marc Levine Named Chair of Orthopedic Surgery at Jersey Shore University Medical Center

Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) is proud to announce that Marc J. Levine, M.D., has been appointed Chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Regional Chair of Orthopedics for HMH's Southern Region.
Dr. Levine has had a distinguished career as a nationally recognized orthopedic spine surgeon, educator, researcher, and physician leader. His extensive experience in clinical excellence, academic leadership, and physician engagement positions him to lead the continued growth and advancement of orthopedic services across the region.
With decades of experience in orthopedic surgery and health care leadership, Dr. Levine has served in numerous regional and national leadership roles. He previously served as Director of the Spine Surgery Program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton and held positions including Chief of Orthopedic Surgery and Vice Chairman of Surgery. He has also served as President of the Medical Society of New Jersey and President of the Eastern Orthopedic Association as well as currently serving on the Board of Councilors for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Levine is a respected clinician, educator, and advocate who is deeply committed to advancing patient-centered musculoskeletal care and strengthening the future of orthopedics through innovation, quality improvement, and academic excellence.

JSUMC provides patients with the latest diagnostic, treatment and surgical technologies for optimal orthopedic care. The medical center recently opened a new HiRise Weight Bearing CT scanner, designed for informed surgical planning for joint replacement surgeries, and provides cutting edge enabling technologies including minimally invasive techniques, robots and navigation platforms to enhance joint replacement and spinal surgery quality outcomes. JSUMC is the first New Jersey hospital to receive verification under the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Geriatric Surgery Verification (GSV) program, focused on providing optimal surgical care for older adults.
As Chair of Orthopedics and Regional Chair for the Southern Region, Dr. Levine will lead efforts to strengthen clinical excellence, enhance collaboration across the region, expand academic and research initiatives, and advance innovative approaches to musculoskeletal care. He will work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure patients continue to receive the highest quality orthopedic care throughout the region.
