ASBURY PARK, NJ - A man was fatally injured Sunday night after he was struck by a train in Asbury Park, according to a spokesman from NJ Transit.

The victim has been identified as James Kessock, 34, of Barnegat, according to NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith. At around 9:55 p.m. on Dec. 5, it was reported that Kessock was found along the track lines near First Avenue, Smith said.

New Jersey Transit police are currently investigating what train may have been involved.

The fatality marks the second Monmouth County train death this weekend, with one boy having been killed by a train near the Red Bank station, Patch previously reported. Both victims have not yet been identified by NJ Transit.

North Jersey Coast Line rail service was temporarily suspended in both directions between Long Branch and Bay Head on Sunday but has since resumed.
