Triple Shooting In Monmouth County (UPDATED)

UPDATED: Three people were shot in a violent act of gun violence at the Jersey Shore, police said.

Three people were shot in Monmouth County overnight, according to authorities. It was at least the sixth act of gun violence in the same area this summer.

Three people were hospitalized after they were shot near Sewall Avenue around 10 p.m. in Neptune Township, prosecutors said.

Neptune Township police responded to a 911 call at about 9:37 p.m. Monday reporting that shots were fired on the 1600 block of Sewell Avenue, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Police arrived to find three victims: a 22-year-old man, 21-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, all with non-life-threatening wounds. All three victims were taken to an area hospital.

The 22-year-old man and 16-year-old boy were treated and released. The 21-year-old man was hospitalized in stable condition.

Crime tape stretched across Sewall Avenue near Ridge Avenue and Whitesville Road on Monday evening, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. Neptune police vehicle guarded the scene.

The incident came just days after two men were shot this weekend while sitting inside a vehicle in Asbury Park. Another vehicle pulled up alongside them and two other men began firing, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni. The Asbury Park mayor and City Council recently responded to recent shootings in the city:

"As being reported in the press, we can confirm there were two unrelated shootings in Asbury Park....
