Organizers are finalizing programs, fundraising, and recruiting volunteers and board members, while planning to highlight the city's rich queer history and eventually expand similar centers across the region.

2. Atlantic City, New Jersey, Is Focusing On Abandoned Properties (wpgtalkradio.com) — Atlantic City is tackling its problem of vacant, rundown properties with help from a new $30,000 Abandoned Property Rehabilitation Act Scholarship, one of only two awarded in New Jersey. Mayor Marty Small says the grant will bring expert guidance, enforcement support, and a tailored site visit to strengthen the city's efforts to rehab and redevelop blighted properties and protect neighborhood home values.

3. Atlantic City Awards Grant for New Affordable Homeownership Development (jerseydigs.com) — Atlantic City's municipal council has awarded more than $203,000 in federal block grant funds to support a six-unit affordable homeownership development at 303 North South Carolina Avenue. The project, designed as shore-style single-family homes near transit and amenities, targets low- to moderate-income families and complements another senior-focused affordable project, The Sheila, also planned within the city.

Driver in Atlantic City shooting that wounded two sentenced to four years (breakingac.com) — An Atlantic City man has been sentenced to four years in prison for driving the getaway car in a 2023 Labor Day shooting on South Florida Avenue that wounded two men and endangered nearby children. Investigators tied him to the crime through surveillance video, the rented Nissan Altima he was found in a week later, and phone location data matching the time and place of the shooting.

Indoor Auto Racing Championship 2027 Dates Confirmed For Allentown, Atlantic City (speedwaydigest.com) — Atlantic City race fans can look ahead to January 29–30, 2027, when the Indoor Auto Racing Championship returns to Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall for the 25th NAPA Auto Parts Racing Weekend. With TQ Midgets, Slingshots, Micro Sprints, and Champ Karts on the card, tickets for both the Atlantic City and Allentown events go on sale September 22.
