18 Have Died From Coronavirus In Barnegat, Stafford: County

Ten people have died in Stafford, and eight have died in Barnegat as of Tuesday, according to the Ocean County Health Department.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Ten people in Stafford and eight people in Barnegat have died from the new coronavirus as of Tuesday, according to the Ocean County Health Department.

The OCHD revealed the number of reported new-coronavirus deaths by town for the first time Wednesday. The municipalities with the largest numbers of reported deaths are Lakewood (50), Brick (43), Berkeley (41), Toms River (35) and Manchester (34).

The County has reported 164 positive cases in Barnegat and 161 in Stafford as of Wednesday.

Newly revealed OCHD data on the webpage includes the number of newly reported cases by day and a breakdown of cases and deaths by age demographics.

Here are the reported numbers in Barnegat and Stafford longterm care facilities as of Wednesday:

  • Southern Ocean Center, Manahawkin: 33 cases, two deaths
  • Barnegat Rehabilitation & Nursing Center: 19 cases, one death
  • Atria Senior Living, Manahawkin: one case, one death
  • Manahawkin Hursing and Rehabilitation Center: four cases, no deaths

The County is awaiting guidance from the New Jersey Department of Health for the definition of "recovered" before reporting that data. Some New Jersey counties have reported the number of people cleared from quarantine, rather than considering them recovered.
