2 St. Mary Clergymen Accused Of Child Sex Abuse

The Diocese of Trenton added details to its list of 30 clergymen who were "credibly accused" of sexually abusing minors. Two of them served at St. Mary in Barnegat: Francis J.C. Janos and Richard R. Milewski.

Both abused multiple victims, according to the Trenton Diocese. Janos was born in 1917 and ordained in 1946. He has deceased. Janos's other assignments included the following:

• St. Mary, Perth Amboy
• St. Francis, Metuchen
• Our Lady of Lourdes, Milltown
• St. Philip & St. James, Phillipsburg
• St. Rose of Lima, Freehold
• Middlesex County Boy Scouts (Chaplain)
• Our Lady of Mercy, Englishtown
• St. Matthew the Apostle, Edison
• St. Joseph, High Bridge

Milewski was born in 1946 and ordained in 1983. He has since been removed from ministry. The 72-year-old was accused in a lawsuit of sexually abusing a boy in the 1980s, when he served St. Veronica's Church in Howell, according to the Asbury Park Press.

Milewski's other assignments included the following:

• Corpus Christi, Willingboro
• St. Veronica, Howell
• St. Anthony of Padua, Hightstown
• Holy Eucharist, Tabernacle
• St. Rose of Lima, Freehold
