Community Update

I am hoping our quaint little town of Barnegat will get behind some fun and fundraising with the upcoming "Restore the Gore" events we have planned.

When I moved to Barnegat in 2004 my then 10 year old son had such a thrill at the Haunted Hay Ride in town. We enjoyed hot dogs and apple cider in the fire house and the kids all loved it. Shortly there after the event did not exist. I started working for the school district in 2006 and in 2008 I became the Transportation Coordinator. Since that time I have attempted to have a "Haunted School Bus" at the recreation center during Halloween events. I understand the kids loved it. Well this year we will try and make a new exciting tradition in Barnegat.

First there will be a "paranormal" research team performing an "investigation" at the closed down Elizabeth V. Edwards school. Over the years there have been many and I do mean many stories of unexplained events at that location. We have had music playing, strange noises, lights going on by themselves, ladders moved and many more. We are hoping to get to the bottom of it and find out if Barnegat indeed has it's own "lizzy". There will be a LIVE presentation of the "findings" by the South Jersey Paranormal Research Society at Barnegat High School on Sat. Oct. 12th. All proceeds from the event will go towards Barnegat school programs. The event will be hosted by the Barnegat Education Foundation.

On Thursday Oct 17th, we will have a "Bonfire" for homecoming . This is scheduled to be held behind the Edwards school. There will be refreshments and activities as well. There will also be tickets sold for the "Restore the Gore" school bus rides available.

Finally, we will have two(2) nights of fun, chills and thrills in downtown Barnegat. On Sat Oct 19th and Oct 26th. we will be holding the "Restore the Gore" Haunted School Bus. People from all around will be able to board several school buses at the Edwards school and take a SPOOKY ride around the downtown area. I understand that riders might encounter some strange things along the way. It is sure to be a MUST for all Barnegat kids and hopefully our neighbors North and South as well. Again all proceeds will go toward Barnegat school programs. The event is hosted by the BEF.

Make a memory, have fun, put that smile on your child's face and come out, re-discover the Barnegat Downtown area again. Meet your neighbors and lets enjoy one of those small town traditions again.

See you there!
