$54 Million Budget Introduced In Stafford: What To Know

The budget, up $3 million from 2022, comes with an increased tax rate. Here's how it'll impact residents.

STAFFORD, NJ — Officials introduced Stafford's 2023 budget of $54 million, an increase of about $3 million from 2022.

The tax rate has again increased; it will be 94.8 cents, up 3.16 percent. With the average home in Stafford assessed at $291,251, homeowners will be paying $84.46 more a year.

CFO Doug Cannon noted that though Stafford does sometimes have spikes in costs, they make an effort to not pass all of those costs onto taxpayers.

A public hearing on the budget is set for May 9.

At the meeting, Township Administrator Matthew Von Der Hayden also gave a lengthy presentation outlining the budget process and what Stafford accomplished with the 2022 budgets.

This includes things like a new playground and park improvements, roadway improvements, communication board installations and more.
