Albert 'Don' Fillman, Amateur Radio Enthusiast, Dies At 76
Longtime Long Beach Island resident was also lifetime member of Beach Haven First Aid Squad, avid surf fisherman

Albert “Don” Fillman, of Manahawkin passed away at home surrounded by family on August 18, 2014 at the age of 76.
Don was born in Abington, PA and raised in Germantown. He was a longtime resident of Long Beach Island, residing currently in Manahawkin. Don retired from the Long Beach Township Police Department and Scibal Adjustment Bureau as Vice President of Special Risk. He also owned and operator Two Way Radio Service.
Don was an honorary lifetime member of the Beach Haven First Aid Squad and member of the Old Barney Amateur Radio Club, Wicked Rides Car Club, Little Egg Harbor and NJ Beach Buggy Association. He was an avid surf fisherman who attended all stripe & bass derbies on LBI since inception and was known for his antique train collection.
Don was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Jean Fillman in 2013. He is survived by his son Don and his wife Catherine of Sandwich, MA., three daughters, Linda and her husband Jim Jones of Doylestown, PA, Melisa Fillman of Beach Haven West and Dyana Fillman-Kelley of Philadelphia. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Betty Jean, Brian, Caitlin, Mikey, Justin, and Jimmy and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Anna.
Services were held at Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 12th St & Long Beach Blvd, Ship Bottom. Burial was held at Greenwood Cemetery, Tuckerton. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Doylestown Hospital Heart Institute, C/O Development Dept., 595 West State St., Doylestown, PA 18901 or Southern Ocean Cty. Animal Shelter, 321 Haywood Rd., Manahawkin, NJ 08050 in Mr. Fillman’s memory.
