Augustine D. 'Snoopy Gus' Brindley Of Barnegat Light Dies At 83

U.S. Navy Korean War veteran was a commercial fisherman and boat builder

tAugustine D. “Snoopy Gus” Brindley, age 83, of Barnegat Light passed away on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014. Born in Higginsville, NJ, he lived in Elizabeth and Bayville prior to Barnegat Light, where he resided since 1967. He was a self-employed commercial fisherman as well as a machinist and boat builder.

He was proud of the boats he built which included the Snoopy, the Red Baron and the Super Sonic. He was also part owner of The Lighthouse Marina in Barnegat Light. He also proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy.

He is predeceased by his two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Mai Brindley of Barnegat Light; his three sons, Mark Brindley and his wife Gina of Morganton, N.C., Timothy Brindley of Barnegat Light and James Brindley and his wife Kathy of Barnegat Light; his three sisters, Isabelle Goldt of Flemington, Dolly Roe of Flemington and Ruthie Doster of Ringos; his seven grandchildren, Kyle, Lauren, James, Thomas, Dylan, Scott and Nathan as well as his many loving nieces and nephews.
