Barnegat Adopts 2022 Municipal Budget

The township committee adopted the $30 million budget at a recent meeting.

BARNEGAT, NJ — The Barnegat Township Committee voted to adopt the 2022 $30 million municipal budget at the April 5 meeting.

The budget totals $30,074,711, about $1 million more than the previous year's budget. According to the committee, the municipal purpose tax increased by less than a penny. The average home in Barnegat is assessed at $258,730, so the average homeowner will see an increase of $23.29 in their municipal tax bill.

Barnegat's chief financial office, Tom Lombarski, said that the town is doing its best to keep taxes down.

"I'd love to have that in my town of Lacey," Lombarski joked, referencing the "very low" tax increase.

He also said that Barnegat's debt continues to decline.

Lombarski said an increase in shared service agreements with Waretown, Toms River and Stafford have benefitted Barnegat.
