Barnegat: Historic Cedar Bridge Tavern Open House

BARNEGAT, N.J. — The historic Cedar Bridge Tavern will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The landmark, which predates the Revolutionary War, reopened in April as a historical showpiece after years of restoration.

The Ocean County Parks department purchased the property at 200 Old Cedar Bridge Rd. on Dec. 27, 2007. The location reopened to the public April 1. Read more: Historic Cedar Bridge Tavern Opening In Barnegat

Cedar Bridge Tavern's open house will feature nature walks on the hour and mill stone demos on the half hour. The following activities will be ongoing during the open house:

• crafts: hats, puppets and whirly gigs
• Revolutionary War encampment, music

• mini-militia drill
• bar talk with nonalcoholic samples
• building tours
• camp fire: marshmallows, biscuit making
• children's games: chess, hoop, corn hole

• Take Garden State Parkway South to Exit 69 CR-532 (Waretown)
• Take the ramp toward Wells Mills
• Turn Left on CR-532 – Travel 5.7 miles to RT72
• Cross Route-72 West
• Travel .1 miles West on C-532/610 (Warren Grove Road)
• “Old Cedar Bridge Road” is on the right, park at the intersection

From East – Manahawkin/Barnegat/Long Beach Island

• Take Route 72 West to intersection with CR-532 (Warren Grove Road)
• Turn Left onto CR532/610
• Travel .1 miles down Warren Grove Road
• “Old Cedar Bridge Road” is on the right, park at the intersection

• Take Garden State Parkway North to Exit 57 CR-539 (Tuckerton)
• Take CR-539 North 10.8 miles to Traffic Light Intersection – Route 72
• Turn right onto Route 72 East 1.4 miles
• Turn Right onto CR-532/610 (Warren Grove Road)
• Travel .1 miles down Warren Grove Road
• “Old Cedar Bridge Road” is on the right, park at the intersection

From West – Philadelphia/Camden/Cherry Hill

• Take Route 72 East to Traffic Light Intersection with CR-539
• Continue on Route 72 East 1.4 miles
• Turn Right onto CR-532/610 (Warren Grove Road)
• Travel .1 miles down Warren Grove Road
• “Old Cedar Bridge Road” is on the right, park at the intersection
