Barnegat Man's Team Wins World Series Of Birding Trophy
Alex Majewski and his teammates won the "Limited Geographic Area" category, finding 155 birds in 24 hours in Ocean County.

BARNEGAT, N.J. — A Barnegat man and his teammates earned a World Series of Birding trophy. Alex Majewski and the Friends of Forsythe Ospreys earned first prize in the World Series of Birding's "Limited Geographic Area" competition.
Some teams tack entire states, but Majewski's team searched throughout Ocean County for the LGA category. They began the 24-hour journey at 12:01 a.m. May 11, driving 295 miles and walking 14.9 miles. The team spotted 155 birds.
The scoring depends on a "par," like golf, and Majewski's team had the highest par at 87 percent. The second-place team, the Ridge and Valley Renegades, found 140 species for an 86 percent par.
