Barnegat Morning Report, Feb. 1

Good morning, everyone. Today is Wednesday, Feb. 1.

WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON:

This morning, we've got details on a webinar session hosted by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on spent fuel storage at Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station.

Today is National Signing Day, when high school athletes around the country make official commitments to play for college teams. Barnegat High School is holding a ceremony this morning to celebrate football player Ryan Morris' signing of his letter of intent to play for Purdue University come fall, and we'll be there – look for the story later today.

Also coming up is a piece by regular Patch columnist Christine Scheller about HIV and AIDS resources in the Jersey Shore area.

• The kicks off today from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Atlantic City Convention Center (1 Convention Blvd., Atlantic City). • Today: A chance of showers, mainly before 7 a.m. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 61. West wind between 13 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

• Tonight: A slight chance of rain after 4 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 39. North wind between 5 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
