Barnegat Officials: Mandatory Evacuations In Some Areas Of Town

The Barnegat Office of Emergency Management and the Barnegat Police Department just issued a local state of emergency and a mandatory evacuation for residents near the bathing beach and the East Bay Avenue bridge.

Residents must leave by 10 p.m. tonight, according to a Nixle alert.

Up until a few hours ago, the evacuation was voluntary. But that has since changed.
