Barnegat Salon 'Cut-A-Thon' For Parents Who Lost Newborn

Hair by Honeycutt will raise funds Sunday for the parents of Penelope Jane.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Emily Honeycutt's best friend lost her newborn baby last weekend. The Barnegat salon owner is doing something to help.

Hair by Honeycutt (830 West Bay Ave.) will hold a "Cut-a-Thon" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 26. Proceeds will support Penelope Jane's parents during this time of financial hardship.

Penelope Jane was born with a rare genetic condition called MCADD, which creates problems in breaking down fat to use as an energy source.

She was diagnosed through the state's required testing set, and her parents were notified and immediately sent to a specialist. She died surrounded by loved ones at the hospital.

Haircuts at the Cut-a-Thon will cost $20. Hair by Honeycutt will not do blowouts or color during the event. Walk-ins or appointments are available. Call 609-994-2357.
