Barnegat Woman Charged With Attacking Husband with Knife
Argument led to attack; husband taken to hospital with knife wound to hand, police say

A Barnegat woman was arrested Tuesday after attacking her husband with a kitchen knife, sending him to the hospital with a hand injury, police said.
Joan Mazzella, 35, was arguing with John Mazzella at their home on Stern Court in the Settlers Landing neighborhood around 9 p.m. when she attacked her husband with the knife, wounding his hand, said Lt. Keith Germain of the Barnegat Township Police Department in a press release.
Police responded to the incident and arrested Joan Mazzella on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. She was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.

John Mazzella was transported to Southern Ocean County Medical Center for treatment. Details on his condition were not immediately available.
