Barnegat Woman Struck And Killed In Hit-And-Run Monday Morning: Cops

A 61-year-old Barnegat woman was struck and killed Monday morning in a hit-and-run accident while she was walking on Ridgeway Street in the area of Bayview Boulevard, according to the Barnegat Police Department Facebook page.

The accident happened at 7:50 a.m. The vehicle that hit her fled the scene. The victim was taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Vehicular Homicide Unit and Ocean County Sheriff's Department CSI Unit responded to the scene to assist Barnegat Police detectives and traffic safety investigators with the investigation.

Based on debris recovered at the scene, police investigators are looking for a 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado or 2000-2006 Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban with damage to the front right portion of the vehicle.
