Bellarine Theater Company adds live orchestra at LBIF for 2nd season premiere in Loveladies

"Songs for A New World" at the LBI Foundation of Arts and Science will be BYOB and new partnership will give attendees discounted dining.

Bellarine Theatre Company and the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences are partnering for their second season of theater in Loveladies.
This season’s premiere production, “Songs For A New World” will run from Mar. 12 -14 at 7 p.m.
“Bellarine believes in presenting high quality productions, and we are thrilled to be performing at LBIF again this year,” said Bellarine’s founder and artistic director Jessica Evans.
“Songs For A New World” will feature professional musicians and performers alongside local talent. This is the company’s first production at LBIF featuring a live orchestra, according the company’s release.
The cast features Maddie Ernst, AJ Mendini, Chris Huch and Jannah Tabbacchino under the direction of Evans.
With music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown, “Songs For A New World” is a contemporary song cycle that weaves characters and history together, illuminating the timelessness of self-discovery. It’s about that one moment when someone is about to hit the wall, or have to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.
Its powerful collection of songs examines life, love and the choices we make. Brown transports his audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue. The audience will meet a startling array of characters ranging from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams and a soulless marriage
“Songs” is the first musical written by Brown, who went on to win two Tony Awards. In 2014 he won for his orchestration of “Bridges Of Madison County” and in 1999 for Best Original Musical Score for “Parade.”
Tickets prices are $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors and $10 for children (there are also special VIP tickets available for $20) and can be purchased online at www.bellarinetheatre.com/shows or over the phone 609-661-2083. The LBIF is located at 120 Long Beach Boulevard in Loveladies
All performances are BYOB.
As an added bonus coming with a new partnership with Ship Bottom’s Greenhouse Café, 605 Long Beach Boulevard, audience members will receive half off of any breakfast, lunch or dinner item with the full-priced purchase of another item of equal or greater value when presenting their show ticket, ticket stub or ticket purchase receipt at any time.
