Did the Median Property Tax really go down?
Barnegat is 201st overall in the state as best place to live from NJ Monthly magazine. But wait, there's more...
In the September 2011 “New Jersey Monthly” magazine, the front page reads BEST PLACES to LIVE (for NJ).
They list the top 100 towns based on various criteria like population, median home sales 2010, median property taxes, median property taxes changes since 2007 and a whole host of other areas. What I found interesting initially that no town in Ocean County was in the top 100.
But even more curious were their data on home prices and property taxes (near and dear to everyone’s heart). Median home price, page 56, (increase), in sixth place for the entire state is Ocean Township at +25% (2007 prices), based on 2010 Median home price of $300K.

What I also found interesting was the Property Tax (decrease), again page 56, in fourth place is Barnegat, with a 2010 median property tax bill = $4266, a change in the median tax bill since 2007 of -9.9%. Also, Barnegat in the rankings of overall places to live is 201st.
