Final Farewell For Barnegat Township Clerk Kay West

Barnegat Township's clerk retires

Emotions ran high as the court room was converted into a beach scene for the last harrah for outgoing Township Clerk Kay West.

Many of the township employees and some invited guests converged on the court house to bid their final farewell and well wishes to Kay. When Kay entered the room, applause was loud and steady. As Kay walked around the room she was showered with gifts from her various friends.

Township Committeman Marty Lisella recalled how Kay was a tremendous help to him when he was elected to the comittee three years ago. Lisella went on to say, "She is a great woman who will be missed by all." The same sentiments came from two of her coworkers, Donna and Michelle. Donna said, "Kay will be my lifelong friend." Michelle, holding back tears said "Kay is a wonderful lady who will be missed by all."

Replacing Kay will be Deputy clerk Sharon Auer. Sharon said she is "ready for the new challenge but she has some big shoes to fill". She added jokingly, "Kay is a big person even though she may be short."

As a resident I will never forget everything that Kay has done for my family. We will miss her dearly. I still looking forward to seeing her at St. Mary's, as Kay serves on the Parish Council, is a Catechist and is involved in other ministries.

Tears welled up in my eyes when I said goodbye to her. However Kay, it is not goodbye – it is see you later.
