Memorial Day: Do we all Know The Real Meaning?
Do we all know the real meaning of Memorial Day?

As everyone is preparing for Memorial Day Weekend, do we all know the real meaning? Some people say It's the un-official start of summer and drive to area beaches. Others crank up the grills for the weekend barbecues. Others say, wait there is a sale going on.
Even though the above may be how you view it let us all take a step back and stop. Memorial Day is a day to honor our veterans. The men and women of the fiercist armed forces the world has ever seen. It is a day to remember their sacrifices. Some of them are scarred for life. No limbs, speech impaired, maimed for life. Thousands and thousands have died. Thousands and thousands are still in the war arena. Memorial Day is for them. It is a day to honor and remember the men and women of our armed forces.
So before you fire up your grills, hit traffic going to the beaches or do whatever you want to do, take some time out and thank a veteran. Honor them, respect them and most of all love them. They have all fought for the freedoms we enjoy today.

American Legion Post 232 of Barnegat is hosting their annual Memorial Day Parade to honor our members. Can you take time to come out on Monday to Route 9 at 1 p.m. and cheer our vets on? I think the food will still be there and the soda and beer will stay cold.
I will be spending my Memorial Day in Indiana, with The Patriot Flag, which honors those who died on 9/11 but also those members of our military who have served and given their lives for the last 10 years fighting The War on Terror. You can be sure that when I speak there, I will be having a moment of silence for all our fallen heroes.
