Mirage Softball: Standing Tall in Waretown
Your boys again travel to Waretown in hope of settling a score.

Thirteen of our boys made the trip to Waretown with the hopes of avenging last weeks loss to Greenbrier.
Your lineup: Skip Vaccarello, Pat Pipi, Marty Lisella, John Arena, PPP, Joe Germano, Robin Greenwald, Joe Feeney, Andy Gish, Mike Pappas, Bill Farmer, Arti Posillipo and although on crutches Rich (crazy legs) Zaccagna thought enough of the team to come out and coach third.
As we were making up our lineup we noticed that two of our starters were missing, we had a hole at SS and one up the middle. Looking over at Greenbrier, they had a full squad and they were more than ready to play. Looks like we're up against it today, Joe.

"Pat, you worry too much."
Time and time again when you think the Mirage has no chance they take a stand and prove you wrong. Today your heroes stood tall again.

The Mirage scores two in the first, four in the second, one in the third and one in the fourth and never look back as they coast to an easy 8-4 victory.
In this league defense always determines the outcome, and we were perfect all game, Marty and John made play after play without a hitch and boys on the lawn ran down anything that moved.
With the championship already in their pocket, the Bombers could have just laid back and took it easy, but Skip would have none of that, he was on them from the first pitch to the final out.
79-year-old Artie pitched his best game of the year today. We asked Artie where he gets all his stamina. He reached in his pocket and pulled out a pack of smokes. I think they were called USA cigarettes?
All around this may have been our most impressive game of the year. We now stand with at gaudy 16-2.
In the managers' show you would think that Skip would be happy. "Yes we played well, but I did see plenty that I did not like," said Skip.
Whether on the bases or on the field, guys are just not listening to the coaches. I see and hear everything that goes on out there. My suggestion to those guys are to stop at Rite aid and pick up a pair of tweezers because when you sit on a wooden bench for a long time, your rear is bound to get a splinter every now and again.
Skip went on to say that we have a big two game home and home coming up next week against Smithville, so everyone needs to check their egos at the door. "I will be managing these games to win, and nothing short of a sweep will be acceptable."
Bomber bits:
After our game on the June 30, win or lose, management has made reservations at Spiaggia's. Joe G happened to be walking by and overheard the news, and started to ask "is there gonna be...?"
Yes Joe, take it easy, there will be plenty of beer.
We stopped by the Legion with Joe after the game. After for a beer or two, and as we do year after year we asked, Joe, why not set up a game for us against your son John's team the Young Guns?
We can modify the rules just a bit to compensate for the age difference, I think we can really give them a game! The answer is always the same, "sure Pat, I'll set that up. Hey Andy, set Pat up with another and take it out over here."
We have a good team guys, we can play with anyone, ask Joe to make it happen.
If we can beat a team 30 years younger, that would be the crowning point of our season.
Magic moments are developed within. Enthusiasm and interest are where they begin. Lets do it.
No curfew tonight, boys.
